What happened?

okay so i haven’t posted something for like 5-6 days now which is pretty uncool of me so i thought i would just make a quick press and let ya’ll know whats happening

so ive been at tafe now for like 4-5 weeks and i’m absolutely loving it, it was definitely one of the better choices i’ve made.

I’ve also been working on some portfolio designs for myself which you can see here and here they are both hosted on a free domain over at 000webhosting
hopefully i’ll get some money together soon and then ill be able to actually host a site.

I’ve also began looking at some wordpress theme development which is a bit exciting, im kind of still trying to get my head around it at the moment because its all pretty new to me, its more so understanding how the php works and why its used instead of html and how to integrate the two of them.

At TAFE i’ve been doing lot’s of different stuff about web design and development, so far we have learnt about XHTML (both strict and transitional), FTP, web standards and currently i’m writing a report on web authoring tools and how they work and analyzing two programs and assessing their qualities.

I’ve been trying to teach myself a bit of php along the way as well and i kind of know about functions, loops and variables which seem to be a huge part of the language. So hopefully soon ill find some free time to get a bit of that down.

I’m also currently looking for a new job, it’s not that bunnings is horrible its just that i want to get closer to IT and web design, so yeah if anyone knows of any part time jobs in Adelaide let me know ;)

In other news, Fallout:NV is coming out pretty soon which looks soooo awesome and i’m real stoked for that one. I think i’ll probably grab him off of Play-Asia because its a good $40 cheaper than in Adelaide.

I turned 18 back in July and I’ve been going out a fair bit since then and it has been a pretty good time out, although i did get glassed one night but thats not really a huge deal. I also got a new car (VS Commodore) and its going really well, i did have a bit of trouble with him at the start but now that im driving him around a bit more and had a mechanic have a look at him he seems to be going much better.

I havnt been riding as much as i would like to but thats alright because i plan on bmx-ing a lot more in the next few weeks before work picks up too much, I’ve been going downhilling a fair bit lately and even though it isnt my preferred sport it is still pretty fun.

So thats my update this time, and just a quick bit of info that I probably wont be posting as much on here, but i am going to try and write more about myself like the above rather than just repost stuff i find in my RSS.

Thanks for reading

Nick.

Ugzine Forums Closed For Business

okay so im pretty devo at the moment

i just went to go scope out the ugzine forums and found this message

bye
I looked at the date today (14/5/10), and realised it was the forum’s third birthday. It got me thinking.

Over the those three years, the forum has certainly gone through it’s fair share of ups and downs, but in general it’s been a positive experience for myself and I hope it has been for you guys too.

I guess it has just gotten to the point where I, like a lot of the original members, have lost interest in the forum.

So it’s today that I close ugzine forum, feeling slightly sombre, but stoked about the future too. Adelaide scene is awesome right now, BMX is fucking rad, and I’m sure there is going to be stuff in the future that’s going to get everyone stoked.

The blog has been stepping it up over the last few months, with a team of keen writers and a steady flow of original content. With any luck, it will fill the void that the forum will leave. Check it out when you’re bored.

I’d like to say thankyou to everyone who’s helped out with the forum, made a positive post, or just lurked the site. You’re all awesome!

Have a good one and enjoy BMX.

- James (jamesdwade@gmail.com)
okay so theres a few questions that have to be asked like

Where does this leave the Adelaide scene?

Does this mean new riders wont be able to look around and meet people and get a feel for the community?

Does this mean the Adelaide scene wont be as dope because there wont be an online communication as well as physical communication?

Does this mean someone else will step up and make an Adelaide scene related website to challenge ugzine?

Does this mean ugzine will lose popularity without the board?
